Unit 3 Poetry
In this unit, students will study and explore a range of poems from around the world. The focus will be on how poets see and describe the world around them in special ways. Students will learn about poetic devices and the way poets use precise language and vocabulary to appeal to the senses, thoughts and emotions of the reader. Finally, the students will produce their own poems to express how they feel about their own world now and how they expect it to change or hope it will change in the future.
There will be an interdisciplinary connection to Visual Arts and the environment.
